Working with TIFF format files.

Work on your digital images as much as possible in Tif format to avoid loss of quality during JPG compression.  For Larger images, save a copy as high quality JPG format for printing, but keep yourself a Tif copy.

  • DO NOT save tif files with Layers or Compression.  Flatten any layers before saving if working with PSD Photoshop format.
  • Files must be RGB (NOT CMYK)
  • Always save as 8 bit
  • Save in IBM PC format as shown in the tif save options.

  • Working with JPEG format files.

  • Always save using the highest quality settings in the JPEG Options panel.  Ticking the 'Preview' box will let you see the change in quality as you decrease the Quality settings to obtain smaller file sizes.
  • Do Not save using 'progressive' or 'optimized' options.
  • Files must be RGB (NOT CMYK)
  • Save in IBM PC format
